Bali for the nth time. Yes it is overrated, yes I’ve been here several times already and yes I don’t really mind. Why?! When you live in Jakarta, you will want to escape this place as much as you can and Bali is the easiest option. Even if it can get very crowded too because everybody seems to go here, this place is just different. It gives you a city vibe but a better kind of city feeling. Plus, FOOD! So why the hell not?!
Anyhow enough with the explanation, during the Labor Day weekend my cousin visited me here in Indonesia so I decided to bring her to Bali instead. To my surprise, Bali was not as busy as I was expecting it – yay! more room for us to explore!
Temple run for the first day then beach bum the second day. My favorite temple was Goa Gaja in Ubud. (I will be writing a solo post about Ubud next) There’s just something in Ubud that makes me feel really relaxed and appreciate everything I see there… Even the crowd – especially the crowd.
During our beach bum day, we went to Padang Padang beach in the morning. It was actually nice there even if the shore was pretty small and can easily get crowded. We stayed there for a couple of hours just relaxing and trying to salvage our things because the water that day was pretty high (our bags almost got wet) which means – good waves for surfing!
Then we decided to move to Suluban beach but unfortunately we cannot cross the pathway going to the main beach because the waves were already crashing on the rocks – not in the mood to get swept off or body slam between the waves and big rocks so we just decided to enjoy the view from the warungs above. (I took a video but since I can’t upload videos here… sorry guys) Thank you very much to our tour guide Pak Putu Suartawan for recommending cool places and giving us tips about whatnots. So if you need a tour guide around the area, please contact him by clicking here.
Night time was spent walking around Jalan Kayu Ayah and exploring the bars and restaurants near the area.
We had a wonderful stay at Grand La Villais in Seminyak which was partners with RedDoorz so the rooms were priced cheaper. Very helpful staff and on call 24/7. I was even worried at first because we arrived really late and as for Agoda terms and condition, if you fail to show up then your booking will be forfeited. So we arrived around 2:30am and there you go! Booking was still active. Thank you people! You guys are the best! Our hotel was located 5 minutes away from Jalan Kayu Ayah, which is a long stretch of street with lots of food choices and some bars – lively at night because there’s a lot of tourist up for some wine and dine. So our hotel was very convenient and perfectly situated for our advantage. Good room, comfortable bed, good service, perfect hotel location… What a wonderful holiday it was!
